People are starting to hear about
Qigong, one of the best-kept secrets of the
east. Once known only by the wealthy and
elite of China, these simple, gentle longevity
exercises are as soothing as they are
energizing. Scientifically proven to reduce
high blood pressure and hypert ension, boost
immunity and hasten post-operative
recovery, Qigong is starting to catch the
attention of sports icons like Tiger Woods
who use it for focus enhancement, and
medical media stars like Dr. Oz who tout it
as an ideal adjunct to western medical care.
Whether one is an athlete, executive, student
or busy parent, more and more people are
enjoying the profound health benefits that
Qigong can provide. Even 10 minutes a day
of Qigong increases health and well-being,
but most importantly, this ancient gem of the
east prevents the onset of stress-related
illnesses and supports optimum immune
health.
Qigong instructor Daisy Lee has taught
Qigong in Nort h America, Europe, Japan,
and Australia. She has studied with masters
from China, Tibet and the west, synthesizing
t he wisdom of her teachers into programs
t hat best suit the needs of her students who
range in age from 3 to 103. Her awardwinning
instructional DVD’s are used in
schools, corporations, clinics, hospice care
and prisons where stress levels are highest.
In China, Lee says master instructors
“play Qigong”. There is a sense of fun and
lightheart edness to Qigong that makes it
easier to learn than the more precise,
detailed movements of Tai Chi, the offspring
of Qigong. “The purpose of Qigong is to
live a long, healthy and happy life,” says
Lee, “and with the increasing stresses of
modern life, the wisdom of the past is as
relevant now as it was 5,000 years ago. |
Two proud new Sifus in the kwoon!
On Saturday January 17th, Sifu Harvey was very proud to officially recognize his long-time student Richard Wong as 12th generation Tai Chi Praying Mantis Disciple in the North American system.
Sifu Richard Wong humbly accepted the certificate in front of a cheering crowd at the Golden Harmony kwoon. Sigong Rob Moses was personally present to oversee the ceremony and spoke a few words praising Sifu Wong, Sifu Harvey and Golden Harmony Kung Fu.
After reaching this important milestone, Sifu Richard Wong traveled back the next day to continue his training in Ottawa. We wish him all the best!!
Sifu Richard Wong thus joins Sifu Gordon Wicks in this well-deserved position after they trained intensively together for over ten years. They are now both 12th generation Tai Mantis and 39th generation Northern Shaolin Kung Fu masters and should be referred to as Sifu within Golden Harmony premises.
Check out The Mantis Cave for a full North American lineage chart of the Tai Mantis system. Both new Sifus will be listed there within in the next few weeks. |

It is with great pride that we can announce that we have upgraded our floor to Olympic-grade quality. The new floor is a full inch thick and wood-toned. The floor is firm but has sufficient "give" for break-falls and throwing.
We have also installed air purifiers and a water purification system to allow our students to breathe clean air and drink some clean water while training. |
Second Kali Class
We are happy to announce that starting Friday April 14, Golden Harmony is adding a second Kali class to the program, in response to club member requests. The Kali/Escrima classes will be on Monday and Friday, 8.00PM to 9.30PM. Sifu Simon Chong will be teaching both classes.
